Ipsy Subscription Review

Ipsy is a very popular beauty subscription box that cost $10 monthly. I have been subscribed to Ipsy for about a year now.

Every month Ipsy sends out five samples with an adorable makeup bag. Although Ipsy samples are all types of beauty the tend to lean more towards makeup rather than skincare.

As a subscriber, I was always very happy with my monthly bag; sure there were always a few products here and there that I wouldn't use, but most I loved! The longer I was subscribed to Ipsy the more products I found I was not using. It is not that I did not like the products I was receiving, but I ended up with about 7 black eyeliners, 4 of the same shaped eyeshadow brushes, and several very similar eyeshadow colors. All great products, but too many of the same products.

In the last few months I noticed that many other subscribers were complaining about missing or broken products. I never thought too much of it because my bags were always good. Last month I decided to open one of those many black eyeliners I had collected sometime over the year. I opened the plastic cap only to find the the tube was completely empty! I know mistakes happen and that it was a mistake of the brand and not Ipsy, but I was nevertheless disappointed. (At this point it had been months since I had received the eyeliner and I found no point in complaining about it now.)

After some back and forth reasoning with myself I decided to cancel my Ipsy subscription in June of 2017. I did not come to this decision based on the one bad product I had received. One of the main reasons I canceled my subscription is because I became interested in more skincare type of products and decided it was time to try a different subscription. After canceling my subscription I find that I do miss getting Ipsy, and if I could afford multiple subscription  boxes a month I would definitely resubscribe!
